- 2011-12 Boston Celtics Roster Review

My boys.
Except for the Jordan-led Chicago Bulls squad, I have
followed the Celtics. From the days of Greg
Minor warming up Rajon Rondo’s
jersey, I have followed the squad.
Wait... have I said that
already?
This is perhaps the weakest
incarnation of the squad since the involvement of Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen.
This is also the club’s last
chance to win a title with Paul Pierce,
Garnett, Allen, and Rondo leading the show.
I love my boys but what the
hell is Danny Ainge doing with our
roster? Shaquille O’Neal has retired
and it puzzles the heck out of me as to why they traded Kendrick Perkins. Before that season, Rasheed Wallace has hung up his sneakers. Before the 2011 NBA Playoffs, the Celtics dealt
Perkins and part-time starter (when Rondo is injured) Nate Robinson to the Oklahoma
City Thunder for multi-positioned Jeff
Green and Nenad Krstic. At the
start of the 2010-11 season, Boston acquired Delonte West and Marquis
Daniels and midway in the season they got Troy Murphy, Carlos Arroyo, and Sasha Pavlovic. The Celtics will
welcome the season with Krstic and Murphy gone and Arroyo and West as well.
Replacing the three are Keyon Dooling
and Chris Wilcox.
What the hell happened to the
frontcourt, backcourt, and basically... what the hell happened to our bench
strength?
The bench will be important
since Boston’s starters are old. Last season, Garnett, Jermaine O’Neal, and Rondo were in and out of the injured list.
Jermaine O’Neal needs to have a great season because it seems as if people
forgot his value after last season’s debacle. One player that will be used
heavily by the squad is Brandon Bass.
Bass is a serviceable player in his own right and he taking over the spot left
by Glen “BIG BABY” Davis is something
we should look at.
If healthy, the Big Four can
catapult the squad to the top. However Doc
Rivers needs to have a decent production from his shock troopers. I’m
hoping they can still get a quality player from the free agent mill
particularly at the center and the shooting guard spot.
Antoine Walker’s just down in the D-League! Maybe Ainge can give him a
call?
LET'S GO CELTICS!!!
Game over!
