- End of Eliminations: The Rookie Rankings

In the last week of the
eliminations, we saw Alaska and Shopinas
drop their final assignments. Hopefully both squads can find a doable import to
bring them up from gutter hell.
And speaking of Alaska...
And gutter hell...
Where the hell is Julius Pasculado!?!
Oh wait...
I SEE HIM!
He played four minutes and bungled three attempts in Alaska’s last
game against the Rain or Shine Elasto
Painters.
At least he saw action, right?
GAME STARTS NOW!
10 SHOPINAS.COM / MAGI SISON
LAST WEEK # 10
4.3PPG • 5.0RPG • 0.8BPG
The Clickers finally found a
hard-nosed player besides James Sena and Elmer Espiritu that actually plays by
the rules. We hope to see more from Sison next conference.
9 POWERADE / RUDY LINGGANAY
LAST WEEK # 9
6.4PPG • 1.9RPG • 2.4APG • 1.0SPG
He is still doing great backup
work for the Tigers. He can be a worthy player to use in situations where they
need a spark plug off the bench.
8 B-MEG / MARK BARROCA
LAST WEEK # 8
9.3PPG • 2.5RPG • 1.5APG • 0.9SPG
Flying B is taking control of
the Llamados’ playmaking. It took a while for him to break loose but his
development was worth the wait. I wonder how Jonas Villanueva will fit in the
triangle offense...
7 PETRON / CHRIS LUTZ
LAST WEEK # 4
18.0PPG • 2.9RPG • 4.0APG • 2.3SPG • 7 GAMES
After almost a month of
inactivity, Chris Lutz’ stock has finally fell. Will he play for the Boosters in the playoffs?
And if he returns, will he still get the minutes he once had?
6 ALASKA / MAC BARACAEL
LAST WEEK # 5
10.6PPG • 3.4RPG • 1.4APG
Like I said, Baracael tends to
blow hot and cold. Until the end of Alaska’s campaign, the former Gilas
mainstay was consistent on being inconsistent. With that said, expect him to do
great in the coming Commissioner’s Cup.
5 POWERADE / JV CASIO
LAST WEEK # 7
10.4PPG • 1.9RPG • 5.5APG • 0.7SPG
It took a while but now we are
seeing why Casio is the number one pick of the 2011 PBA Draft. Casio is one of
seven rookies to average in double figures. More importantly however, Casio is
the rookie leader in assists.
4 BARAKO BULL / DYLAN ABABOU
LAST WEEK # 6
11.8PPG • 4.7RPG • 0.9APG
Super Ababou claims more
minutes than Danny Seigle, Mick Pennisi, and Wynne Arboleda which is a
testament on how revered the former UST gunner is on the Energy rotation. With
that said, Barako Bull needs more consistent help for Willie Miller if they
want to extend their conference.
3 RAIN OR SHINE / PAUL LEE
LAST WEEK # 2
13.8PPG • 4.2RPG • 4.7APG • 0.9SPG
One DNP was enough for The
Lethal Weapon to cede his standing to James Sena. After an Ogie Menor hit that
almost messed up his rookie season, Lee will return to pit his talents against
a rejuvenated Mark Caguioa. That should be a great matchup.
2 SHOPINAS.COM / JAMES SENA
LAST WEEK # 3
11.1PPG • 9.4RPG • 1.6APG
Yes my friends, he is still a
rookie. But if there is one thing the abysmal fate of the Clickers has
successfully produced, it’s this guy. Sena will probably see his rankings slip
because of Shopinas’ failure but he is a couple of conferences short of
becoming a go-to-guy... or trade bait.
1 POWERADE / MARCIO LASSITER
LAST WEEK # 1
15.5PPG • 5.2RPG • 3.8APG • 1.5SPG
He secures the top spot for the
fourth straight week. Peeking at the right time, he is one of the reasons why
people are giving the Tigers a slim chance against the B-Meg Llamados. If the Tigers,
you’ll still see his name up top – unless Paul Lee and Chris Lutz has other
ideas.
So with the eliminations coming
to a close, rounding out the outside looking in list are Alaska’s Eric Salamat, Ginebra’s Allein Maliksi, Talk N Text’s Pamboy
Raymundo, Shopinas’ Mark Canlas, and Petron’s Marc Agustin.
Now that Julius Pasculado has
shown up on the list, I wonder if we’ll see him on a regular basis.
And as a thought to ponder...
When will Jason Ballesteros get the minutes like what his former Smart-Gilas
teammates are getting?
Game over!
