- PBA Mock Draft 2.0
Posted by : Syd Salazar
Monday, July 23, 2012
As
of July 22, here are the names that
have applied for a spot in the 2012 PBA
Draft. This is still an unofficial mock draft although there are now 43
confirmed names joining the festivities. None of the names on the list are
named either Junmar Fajardo or Chris Tiu though. But then I’m going to
place Fajardo’s name just the same because one more conference in the ABL, and we’ll know that he may have
forgotten the ways of being a star player. Tiu though, because of his numerous
commitments will be taken out of this mock draft.
Hopefully
we’ll see him sign before the August 3
deadline.
Game
starts now.
FIRST ROUND
1
PET
JUNMAR
FAJARDO
Junmar
will apply. The more he becomes an import backup in the ABL, the less effective
his career will become.
2
ALA
CLIFF
HODGE
Alaska
will never let Hodge slide away from their grasp. Hodge will fill out the
void left by Joe Devance that Jay-R Reyes couldn’t contain.
3
PET
CALVIN
ABUEVA
I
smell trade bait with this pick. Like I’ve been saying… we might see the
re-team up of the Two Dannys next season.
4
MER
CHRIS
ELLIS
I
know Meralco is filled with shot-crazy SG’s but this pick is their only way
to keep Ellis within MVP territory.
5
BAR
KELLY
NABONG
The
guy fits Manong-landia especially with the suspension of Don Allado and their
need to fill out the loss of Dorian Pena.
6
GIN
ALEX
MALLARI
The
guy can be a forward as well as a guard. This is a good deal for Ginebra
although this means he’ll get saddled on the bench.
7
ROS
VIC
MANUEL
Yeng
Guiao loves big men that can shoot from the outside and he fits the bill. He
is also a former Smart-Gilas guy.
8
GIN
KEITH
JENSEN
Jensen
is a neat all-around frontliner that despite the Kings’ need to bolster their
backcourt, keeping him is wise as well.
9
BME
ALDRECH
RAMOS
He
will be helpful for Tim Cone as he waits for the healing of Joe Devance. He
will also reunite with FEU and Smart-Gilas pal Mark Barroca.
10
POW
DAVE
MARCELO
The
Tigers will be lucky to have either Manuel or Ramos in this spot but Marcelo
is no patsy as well. He will solve Powerade’s big man fit.
SECOND ROUND
11
ALA
LESTER
ALVAREZ
Alaska
could use Alvarez as the key backup PG for LA Tenorio.
12
A21
AJ
MANDANI
Starting
their draft in the second round, I think the Express will have their dibs on
a Fil-Am.
13
BME
MARK
JEFFRIES
Jeffries
will pad B-Meg’s frontline and he could be their spark plug off the bench.
14
POW
ALLAN
MANGAHAS
Zamar
can be the scorer Powerade’s bench lack at the moment.
15
PET
JEWEL
PONFERRADA
Petron
could use an extra frontline hand just in case injuries mess up their roster.
16
A21
PAUL
ZAMAR
This
UE scorer should be handy to pad the Express’ lack of scoring spurt.
17
ROS
MACKY
ACOSTA
The
Mapuan can score in bunches and could help bolster Rain or Shine’s backcourt.
18
BME
JANUS
LOZADA
Lozada
can shift from offense to defense and he can be a usable character for Tim
Cone.
19
BME
JR
BUENSUCESO
Size
could be an issue with this guy but with three picks in the second round,
B-Meg could take a look at this talent.
20
TNT
MARK
SARANGAY
While
he will be a project, there is no question that TNT is in dire need for size.
THIRD ROUND
21
A21
JAYVEE
FERRERIA
His
name is familiar… and so could be his playing style.
22
ALA
ADRIAN
CELADA
This
Arellano guy could be the steal of this round.
23
BAR
RAFFY
REYES
You
can never get enough of scorers in your squad.
24
MER
JAYPEE
BELENCION
Belencion
once played for NLEX in the PBA D-League.
25
PET
***
PASS ***
Whoever
Petron gets here will have false hope to play in the PBA.
26
POW
THOMAS
TAN
He
is a second generation player he could shore up their backcourt.
27
GIN
PAUL
GONZALGO
Ginebra
will draft a Gonzalgo but I don’t know if they’ll sign another one.
28
ROS
JUNE
DIZON
It
will be déjà vu anew for the guy that backed up Jervy Cruz in UST.
29
BME
***
PASS ***
B-Meg
won’t sign four rookies… and certainly not five.
30
TNT
KARL
DEHESA
Dehesa
hasn’t really shown up his stuff but he is a NLEX Road Warrior.
I
don’t think these names will hold up until the August 3 deadline happens. Like
I said, missing from the ranks are Fajardo and Tiu. However, there are still a
couple of names missing from the list that could still make it like Indonesia Warrior Jerick Canada, San Beda
Lion Garvo Lanete, Ateneo Blue Eagle Emman Monfort, JRU’s Yousef Taha, Emilio
Aguinaldo’s Claudo Cubo, UP’s Woody Co, and former FEU Tamaraw and Smart-Gilas
1 alum JR Cawaling.
Check
out the finalized list in two weeks!
